Western Riverside County Students’ Artwork to Be Featured in 2018 Calendar

Water is Life Art Contest winners from local Riverside County schools to be recognized

Riverside, CA –  Artwork from four local students in Western Municipal Water District’s (Western) service territory were selected among hundreds of art submissions from throughout Southern California to be featured in Metropolitan Water District (Metropolitan) of Southern California’s 2018 annual Water is Life Art Contest.

Students from El Cerrito Middle School in Corona, William Collier Elementary School in Lake Elsinore and Hillcrest High School in Riverside will be recognized at a celebration reception on Dec. 7 at Metropolitan’s headquarters in Los Angeles.

“Western believes in educating our youth and inspiring them to study water. Water truly is life,” said Western’s General Manager John Rossi. “The Water is Life Art Contest is an opportunity for students to take water and science concepts and creatively apply them to another area of study, such as art. The student artwork creates a powerful message about our water resources to both the students who create them, as well as those who appreciate their artwork.”

Each year, students in Western’s service area submit art for the opportunity to be featured in the well-recognized calendar produced by Metropolitan, which is Western’s wholesale water supplier. This year’s celebration will feature an art exhibit with all winning art pieces, a student recognition ceremony and presentation.
