Master Gardener Workshop, The Threat to Citrus in Your Garden

Saturday, April 13, 2019

The Asian citrus psyllid (ACP) is a pest that acts as a carrier or vector spreading "huanglongbing" (HLB), a devastating disease of citrus trees. This bacterial disease is transmitted to healthy trees by the psyllid after it feeds on infected plant tissue. After the first diagnosis, the CDFA confirmed a second tree in Riverside Co. tested positive for HLB. The tree, residentially located, was discovered within the 800-meter delimitation area. The tree has been removed and residential treatments and survey work are continuing. CDFA has officially declared a quarantine for HLB within Riverside Co. in response to the detection. The quarantine boundaries are on the north, Interstate 10; on the east, Box Springs Mountain Reserve; on the west, Riverside Municipal Airport; and on the south, East Alessandro Boulevard. Are you in or near the zone?
