Western to thank customers for recent efficient water use during State-operated pipeline repairs
RIVERSIDE, CA—Western Municipal Water District (Western) is thanking residential customers in Riverside for conserving more than 2 million gallons of water during critical repairs on a state-operated pipeline with four enhanced rebate offers. These newly increased rebates provide significant money and water saving opportunities for customers.
“Our Riverside customers answered the call for water conservation in a really significant way, and that ensured that Western’s water reserves could be used for essential indoor water needs like drinking and cleaning during repairs,” said Western Municipal Water District General Manager Craig Miller.
All residential customers in Western’s Riverside service area are eligible for the rebates. Details, qualifying products and rebate applications can be found at socalwatersmart.com. Rebate applications must be submitted by August 31, 2020.
“We want to show our appreciation by offering expanded rebate offers that will help our customers save money and water – now and long into the future,” said Miller.
Pipeline repairs were initiated after a leak occurred on the state-operated pipeline that brings imported water from northern California to Riverside. The leak resulted from an unaffiliated construction crew’s accidental drilling into the pipeline. Repairs were conducted by The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) and completed on May 16, 2020.
