What is the recruitment process for a position that states "open until filled?"
Applications will be reviewed by Human Resources and the hiring supervisor as they are received. The most qualified candidates will be contacted for an interview, generally two to three weeks after submitting the application. Candidates that do not meet the requirements will be notified via mail. The position will remain open and the process will continue until the qualified individual is hired.

Once I fill out an application and submit it online, how do I know you have received it?
You will receive an automatic email notification informing you that we have received your application. If you do not receive an automatic email notification, we did not receive your application and you will need to resend your application.

When can I follow up on the status of my application?
Because we receive a high volume of applications, you will hear from us within two to four weeks after you submit your application. Until then, we will not be able to provide you with any information. Human Resources will be reviewing applications.

Do you accept unsolicited applications and resumes for future job openings?
No, a job application and resume is part of a current job opening and will only be accepted when there is a job opening.

What happens to a job application and a resume that is submitted when there are no job openings?
They are placed in an unsolicited file until no longer needed.

When there is a job opening, can I submit my resume in place of an application?
No, an applicant who only submits a resume will not be considered for a job opening. Resumes alone will not be reviewed. Resumes will only be reviewed if accompanied by a job application.
Applications need to be filled out completely. Applications that are filled out with the statement see resume will be considered incomplete and will not be considered in the recruitment process.

There is not enough space in the application to list all my responsibilities / duties from my previous and present jobs, what do I do?
Fill out the application completely. If additional information needs to be provided, attach a resume to list your additional job duties and accomplishments.

What kind of interviews or tests can I expect to come across when I interview for the District?
Different methods of assessing candidates are used, such as performance tests, grammar and writing exercises, simulation tests, presentation exercises and panel interviews.

The process can take anywhere from two to six months. It depends on the position, number of candidates, testing, the availability of panel members or candidates, reference checks, background checks and unforeseeable circumstances.

How does the District determine or assess skills, job knowledge and qualifications?
Based on the information provided in the application and resume, panel / interview members use this information along with the interview responses, references and other exam processes to further assess the qualifications, skills and job knowledge of the candidate.

What are the basic steps of the employee recruitment process?
Completed application packages must be submitted prior to the advertised closing date otherwise they are excluded from the process.
Applications are screened to ensure they meet the minimum requirements for the position.
The most qualified applicants are notified of the time and location of a test and/or interview.
Depending on the position and the discretion of the supervisor / manager, a second set of interviews might be conducted.
Once the qualified individual has been selected, a job offer is extended.
The new hire serves a probationary period.
Candidates that participate in the testing / interview phase, and are not selected, are notified upon the conclusion of the recruitment process.
Acknowledgments are sent to all applicants after the position has been filled.

What is probation and how long does it last?
Probation is the initial period after hire where both parties can make a judgment as to the right fit. Generally, a probationary period is six months.
